Luke Renno

Luke Renno is a legendary bassist and vocalist in Christian extreme metal, founder of Crimson Thorn (1991), and member of Taking the Head of Goliath. Recently, he took over bass and vocals for Mortification on the 35th-anniversary tour of "Scrolls of the Megilloth" (2027), replacing Steve Rowe alongside legends like Jayson Sherlock. Luke Renno is an American vocalist and bassist, widely recognized as one of the great pioneers of Christian death metal. He initially gained global notoriety as a founding member of the band Crimson Thorn, and later solidified his career by joining Taking the Head of Goliath. Recently, he began a historic new chapter in metal by taking over as the frontman for the legendary Mortification.

Crimson Thorn and Early Projects

In 1991, Luke formed Crimson Thorn in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The band quickly stood out for its heavy sound and intense guttural vocals, helping to shape the extreme scene with classic albums like Unearthed (1995), Dissection (1999), and Purification (2002). In October 2016, Renno joined forces with the brutal death metal band Taking the Head of Goliath on bass and vocals, making his live debut during For Today's farewell tour.

Joining Mortification

Following Steve Rowe's definitive retirement from live performances due to health reasons, Mortification announced their return after more than a decade on hiatus for the 35th-anniversary Latin American tour of their acclaimed album Scrolls of the Megilloth, scheduled for 2027. For the difficult task of taking Rowe's place on bass and vocals, Luke Renno was chosen, joining classic members such as Jayson Sherlock (drums) and Mick Jelinic (guitar). The tour includes major shows in Brazil, sharing the stage with notable bands like Antidemon and Terraphobia.
