Classic Petra

Classic Petra is a reunion project of the pioneering Christian rock band Petra, featuring its iconic 1980s lineup. The project brought together vocalist Greg X. Volz, guitarist and founder Bob Hartman, keyboardist John Lawry, bassist Mark Kelly, and drummer Louie Weaver.

History and Formation

Formed in 2010, the project was conceived as a way to celebrate the musical legacy of the band's most commercially successful era. Following their reunion, Classic Petra released the album Back to the Rock in 2010, which featured re-recorded versions of their classic hits from the 1980s, alongside two new original tracks ("Too Big To Fail" and "Back To The Rock").

Live Performances and Legacy

To support the album, the band embarked on a worldwide tour, capturing their live performance in the DVD and live album release, Back to the Rock Live. This provided long-time fans with an opportunity to see the definitive lineup perform timeless anthems that shaped the Christian rock genre globally.
