Founded in 1988 in Niterói, Fruto Sagrado is a landmark of Brazilian Christian rock. Known for lyrics addressing social issues, politics, and existentialism, the band peaked between the 1990s and mid-2000s. The group underwent several lineup changes, with Marcão being the longest-standing original member. After leaving the MK Music label and facing internal crises, the band moved into an independent phase, releasing the "20 Anos" project with new vocalist Vanjor.

Fruto Sagrado is a Brazilian Christian rock band founded in 1988 in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro. The group is considered one of the pioneers of the genre in Brazil, reaching its commercial and critical peak during the 1990s and mid-2000s, alongside acts such as Oficina G3 and Resgate.

The band's musical foundation is rooted in rock, while their lyrical content is noted for exploring daily life, social criticism, political issues, and existential reflections from a Christian perspective.

History

The band was originally formed by Marcão, Flávio Amorim, Marcos Valério, and Bênlio Bussinger. Over the decades, the lineup was characterized by frequent changes, particularly regarding guitarists. Bene Maldonado became a key member during the recording of Na Contramão do Sistema.

Following internal disputes in 2003 and the departure of original bassist/vocalist Marcão in 2007, the band ended its contract with the MK Music label. Transitioning into an independent era, they released the album 20 Anos, featuring Vanjor as the new lead singer. Throughout their career, they have collaborated with prominent musicians like João Alexandre and PG.
